We're very happy to announce the winner of the complimentary tickets to the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend's annual Holiday Homes Tour. Congratulations to Kristin Frykman, who we hope to see on the tour.

They don't say "it's the most wonderful time of the year" for nothing.

In our home and in Old Town Alexandria in general, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. A nip is in the air, the lights are all hung in the trees along King Street, and the storefronts are all decked out in their holiday finest.

But most of all, the town is all abuzz over the annual Scottish Christmas Walk events this coming weekend. An annual tradition in Old Town for many years, the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend is a series of events organized by the Campagna Center that celebrated Alexandria's Scottish heritage and the Christmas season.

In addition to the annual parade...

...the Scotch Tasting at the Masonic Temple...

...the Christmas marketplace, and other events, one of the major highlights of the weekend is the Holiday Tour of Homes on Saturday morning and afternoon. It's an unique opportunity to tour some of the beautiful private residences of Old Town decorated for the holidays. This event is particularly near and dear to our heart as it helped us fall in love with Old Town many years ago, and we were honored to lend our home to the tour in 2012. I don't think our home has looked as good since.

This year's Holiday Designer Tour of Homes boasts a stunning lineup, including the following residences:

415 Prince Street

519 South Lee Street

400 South Lee

501 Prince Street

512 Duke Street

We're really looking forward to this weekend as it traditionally marks the official kickoff to the holiday season for our family. As a special reader reward, anyone who can make it to Alexandria on Saturday for the tour is eligible for a chance to win two tickets to the event. Details are as follows:

HOLIDAY HOMES. I love and live in Alexandria (although not Old Town). I will be attending my first parade this Saturday and would love to take the home tour as well to see inside the houses my husband and I have admired for years from the street.

HOLIDAY HOMES: even though I live in the area, I've never done a tour of any Old Town homes, so that is a must see for me.

This weekend marks the one year anniversary of our family closing on our first home, a 1920s brick colonial on King Street! We moved in on the day of the Scottish Walk parade and eight months pregnant, and of no help to the movers, I walked to the start of the parade to celebrate my new neighborhood. This year we celebrate with our son! I'd love to tour the festive homes in all their holiday splendor!

Holiday Homes! I would love to get some inspiration for Christmas decor beyond the tree. From your behind the scenes posts last year, I know that the design process is extensive!

HOLIDAY HOMES!

I am no longer in the DC area but my parents are and I know my mom would LOVE to see inside all these homes... especially to get decorating ideas for her own house. One of our favorite things to do together is go to model homes and open houses just to get ideas.

Holiday Homes! The Scottish Christmas Parade and lunch at the Majestic afterwards is a tradition for us, but we've never done the home tour. It's about time to rectify that! I'd love to see the insides of these fantastic historic homes.

HOLIDAY HOMES! We just moved to Old Town about 2 1/2 months ago from Western Loudoun County, have been in love with this special place for some time. The Scottish Christmas Walk has been a favorite of ours for several years, and most years we made the drive in to see it. We've even walked in it a couple of times with our Westie! So excited to be living in walking distance now. We have not been able to do the homes tour in years past, and would love the opportunity to do so this year. I love everything about the holidays and would love to see inside some of the stunning decorated interiors of Old Town

HOLIDAY HOMES! What better way to kick off our Christmas season than watching the Scottish parade and touring some beautifully decorated homes in Old Town! I love visiting show homes to inspire my own decor, and no doubt these homes will be full of inspiration! I also look forward to buying fresh greenery that is offered for sale during the events.

HOLIDAY HOMES! I have lived in the area for almost 10 years and have never been to the Scottish Festival and Old Town home tour! The home owners in Old Town go all out during the holidays, and while I love seeing their decorations outside, I am looking forward to seeing how they decorate their interiors.

I'd love to see Old Town's HOLIDAY HOMES! I've always enjoyed the historic homes and gardens tour during garden week in the spring but have never taken the holiday home tour. I'd love to see all the festive interiors while getting inspiration for my own home.
