With our somewhat substantial DC area snow storm of about 8"-9" in our neighborhood, we finally break the several year long streak of winters without a two inch or greater snowfall. The best news, the snow was actually quite nice. Light, fluffy, and perfect for running around in with Lulu (she's a fan of snow, no matter what her photo face tells you).

And since we're enamored with the snow, shivering from the frigid cold and wind that has followed, and elbows deep in work and taking Lulu for daily radiation treatment every morning (she's doing quite well, by the way), we're going to give you a little something different today in lieu of a "real" post.

I pulled the camera out yesterday and took a handful of photos around Old Town and wanted to share some of my favorites with you. We hope you enjoy.

We hope you enjoyed some of the sights from around Old Town. Snow in our area is a rare treat, and really makes some of the homes and scenes around our town that much nicer. There's a campaign going around on social media for Alexandria that's been coined #ExtraordinaryALX. Over the last day or two, there have been so many posts with that tag all due to the snow and how much it's transformed everything.

If you're on the east coast, hopefully you're weathering the storm successfully, I know there's a whole lot more than what we received up north.

Beautiful pictures! I love these moments when everything’s wrapped up in fluffy noise muffling snow.
Here in the Austrian alps we are experiencing a rather mild and (almost) snowless winter.

Photos are just as if taken out of a fairytale. I've always enjoyed the winter and the clear and bright spirit it brings.
