In Old Town Alexandria Christmas reigns supreme. From the day after Thanksgiving through the end of December, homes and shops throughout the city are festively decorated and accessorized for the season.

As we've walked the quaint streets of Old Town Alexandria this month, we've been enamoured with many homes' exterior holiday decor. From creative use of fresh fruit and greens, to wreaths beyond belief, we've been stopped dead in our tracks. You may recall our post last week on how we created the window and door swags for the front of our home, but our decor hardly takes the cake for most beautiful, interesting or show stopping.

Over the last couple of weeks we've been snapping photos of the decore we find particularly nice. Here's a quick roundup of some our our favorites to help spread a little holiday cheer. What can we say? It warms our hearts.

Quite honestly, this is just scratching the surface of the decorations you see all around Old Town. If you're in the DC area and want to take a relaxing stroll through an enjoyable urban Christmas town, stop by Old Town this weekend and enjoy the sights.

Thanks for the "tour"! The one with all of the fruit in the fan transom made me smile.

Have a Merry Christmas!

It's even more beautiful and impressive in person!

It's hard to choose, but I think I would say the tree visible through the window is my favorite. That may have to do with the artistry of the photo, though.

I have to give Alex credit on that one. It is a really beautiful photo. Maybe we should send it to the homeowners so they can use it as their Christmas card next year. :-)

I love that one too, Spencer. Totally unexpected and a great pop of color.

That's great and thank you! Is your office the building with the fruit?

Love the fruit in the transom! How clever, especially with the 'hospitality pineapple' front and center!

I didn't do much on the exterior of the bungalow this year, but the inside is all pretty. Mantle, windowseat with the tree, kitchen feather tree, buffet with creche and Advent wreath/candles.

Starting to get into the spirit, for sure. Now to WRAP (and wrap, and oh yeah, wrap LOL)

A feather tree! Now that's something I need to try one of these years.

I know what you mean about wrapping. I thought we were nearly done, and then I found I had wrapped another 12 gifts on Saturday...and we still have a few more to do!

They haven't been out since last year. We miss them and talk about them every time we walk by that house. We're so sad.
